ABEOKUTA — A strong indication has emerged that workers at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, are angry with Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for failing to pay their five months salaries.
Vanguard gathered that both the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution were groaning following the failure of the state government to pay their salaries since September 2017.
Both government and MAPOLY workers had disagreements which snowballed into three months strike by the workers over the decision of the government to upgrade the institution into a university.
The government had threatened that it would not pay their salaries for the months they went on strike, but, the workers disagreed with the government.
When Vanguard visited the campus last week to observe the situation of things, many lecturers faulted the government for not paying their salaries.
Many of them, who spoke with Vanguard on the condition of anonymity, lamented that they were groaning as a result of the failure of government to pay their salaries.

Some of them said they would not have suspended the strike but were assured that the government would play its role and pay the outstanding salaries if they resumed work.
Attempt to speak with the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, MAPOLY branch, Kola Abiola was not successful as he could not be reached.
Vanguard , however, learned that the workers might embark on strike if the government refuses to pay the salaries and meet up with their demands.
