BUHARI NOT IN CHARGE, HE'S BEING GOVERNED - GOVERNOR FAYOSE

[
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari is not in charge of Nigeria and that the country is being governed by a cabal in the Presidential Villa.

The governor, who said he does not have any against the President, insisted that Buhari does not have the political will to tackle security challenges facing the country such as the incessant attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, idowu Adelusi, Fayose said, ”The constitution of Nigeria is no longer working. Let me come to the level of incidents happening around.

“In the conception of that constitution, it does not really want the governor of Ekiti to have control over security apparatus to help his people.

“And to worsen matters, people who are supposed to protect this constitution are now collaborators, they are the ones trampling on the constitution and that is the Federal Government.

“Everyday now, there is an occurrence of killing people. There is no security for anybody. A herder would threaten to command his cow to attack farmers.

“Anybody can see you on the way and attack you. They even slaughter their victims from the back. You can’t even demean an animal like that. They would even threaten farmers that if I see you in your farm, I will kill you. We have lost it.

“This administration rode to power with threefold promises, to fix economy and power and fight corruption, everything has failed in all aspect.

“Let us look at Ghana on the issue of herdsmen attacks, that country dealt with their herdsmen and got rid of them and they have peace of mind afterwards.

”But look at Nigeria, a minister would say that a governor is blocking the road. How important is a cow to human beings. I don’t know we got into this mess as a nation, we are at the mercy of cattle rearers.

“We are now at the mercy of the current administration headed by someone who does not see any other tribe as important.

“Let us ask ourselves, the number of people that have been killed by Fulani herdsmen since Buhari came into power is more than the ones killed right independence till 2015.”

Fayose further urged Nigerians to vote out Buhari in 2019, saying, “Before this administration came to power, I warned Nigerians, and I am warning again, if by any chance Buhari comes back to power, the would doomed.

”I have nothing against Buhari, he is our leader and remains so. All that I have spoken about presidency has come to pass. I was a 24 years old man when President Buhari was military Head of State at that time, the same way ruled then is that same way it is happening now.

Majority of the people that voted for Buhari are in the age bracket of 18 to 40. They didn’t know who he was. I am telling you expressly that this country is not well governed.

“The principal thing the people look for before you can talk of food is security, Nigeria is not secured. I said that the President wasn’t fit health wise to govern and he was away from office for more than half a year.

“That explains what I have been saying, ‘Nigerian does need a man of over 70 years of age. It is not personal and I respect President Buhari but the fact is that my mother cannot say she wanted to be governor of Ekiti. Nigeria needs a hands on presidency.

”You talk about Buhari’s experience but your experience is okay only if the body is okay and vice versa. Let us be realistic, Nigeria is of 180 million people, can’t we find one young, vibrant person who can lead us?

We are more militarised than ever before. I would support people who would have imbibed democratic principles to be our President. I am going to be President of this country, write it down.

“I know many would not believe me because the carnal things are what men believe. I told them I will be governor again they didn’t believe me now I am here as governor.

“I have told camera men, take my picture because I may be a bit older then. As long as the lord liveth I will rule this country.”

Alleging that Buhari is not fully in charge but overwhelmed by a cabal, he said, “The President is not in charge he is being governed himself, by a cabal, just like it happened under late Yar’Adua. As time goes on, these cabals will be exposed.”

ABUSIVE SUPERVISORS RESULT IN LESS PRODUCTIVITY IN WORK PLACES - STUDY

Abusive supervisors result to less productivity, higher costs in work places, researchers from the University of Texas (UT) in the U.S. city of Dallas said.

Abusive supervision refers to subordinates’ perceptions of supervisors engaging in sustained hostile verbal and non-verbal behaviors, excluding physical contact.

Junfeng Wu, assistant professor, Strategy and International Management at the UT’s Naveen Jindal School of Management, said; “abusive supervision in the workplace is quite a prevalent phenomenon, and employees should not have to suffer from this.

“Our study shows that there are certain costs associated with abusive supervisors and even the leaders who engage in abusive supervision do not benefit from it.

“We want to convey this important message to organization leaders in order to have them stop these kinds of behaviours,” Wu said.

It can affect employees’ well-being, health and work performance.

Research has shown that abusive supervision affects more than 13 per cent of U.S. workers. Costs incurred by corporations because of absenteeism, health care costs and lost productivity have been estimated at 23.8 billion U.S. dollars annually.

Wu and his co-authors also found that those who experience abusive supervision tend to emulate such abusive behaviors and even bully their co-workers.

“Employees see their leader as a role model in the workplace and they tend to follow suit.

“This is a social learning effect.”

They also explored whether the impact of abusive supervision on employees’ perceptions of justice and deviant behavior differ based on cultural values.

Power distance is a national cultural value that captures the extent to which people tolerate power differences in interpersonal relationships.

In countries with lower power distance, such as the U.S., people tend to feel that power should be equally distributed.

However, in countries with higher power distance, such as Japan, people tend to have more tolerance for the inequalities of power distributions.

Wu said the cross-cultural aspects of this study have important implications for international companies.

For example, if a manager from a higher power distance country is assigned to work in a lower power distance country, he should be aware that employees will not tolerate abusive supervision behaviors due to their lower power distance orientation values.

They suggested that organisations should use leadership development programmes, coach supervisors and pay more attention to employee feedback to reduce the occurrence of abusive supervision in the workplace.

WHY IGBO SHOULD TAKE OVER FROM PRESIDENT BUHARI - NADECO CHIEFTAIN, OBIOHA

A chieftain of the defunct National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Chief Ralph Obioha, has opined that the time is ripe for an Igbo president to emerge in Nigeria.

Obioha made the declaration while urging people of the South East to identify and start preparing the person to takeover the reigns of power after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure expires.

In a chat with The Sun, the former NADECO chieftain admonished Buhari to “buckle up” if he wants to seek a second term in 2019.

According to Obioha, “A convention has been rooted in Nigeria where the six geo-political zones have by affirmation evolved. I have got that perception that every zone must be allowed eight years to give a stewardship. I’m a firm supporter of that.

“I have also cautioned in certain circles we meet that the Igbo should set their eyes on 2023. We should pursue that as a strategy and prepare the person the Igbo should present. It might sound simplistic, but it will work if we put our minds to it.

“The important thing is the region. If eight years convention has been been agreed for by a region to demonstrate leadership, it doesn’t matter whether they split it into four, four by different persons.

“The core issue is the eight years for a region. That is the way we should address our minds.

“If Buhari doesn’t buckle up and change his way, I will never support him again.

“Like I said earlier, I don’t know whether he gets the reports of how Nigerians are feeling today.”

STRANGE SNAKE SWALLOWS 36MILLION CASH IN JAMB OFFICE

A mystery snake is said to have sneaked into the accounts office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital and made away with N36 million cash.

Before now, JAMB candidates purchased scratch cards from JAMB state offices and other designated centers, to gain access to the Board’s website for either registration or to check their admission status but the reforms introduced by JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, recommended an end to the use of scratch cards.

A team of auditors was dispatched to different state offices of JAMB to take inventory of the sold and unsold scratch cards and recover whatever money that might have either been generated or mismanaged during the period of the sale of scratch cards.

On their visit to Makurdi office of JAMB, a sales clerk, Philomina Chieshe, told JAMB registrar and his team that she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.

In the course of interrogation, Philomena confessed that it was her housemaid that connived with another JAMB staff, Joan Asen, to “spiritually” steal the money from the vault in the accounts office.

She said: “I was one of the four sales clerks attached to JAMB office in Makurdi. My responsibility was to sell scratch cards to candidates and not involved in handling the revenues. It was the responsibility of Joan Asen and my other senior colleagues. I only remit money when am done selling the cards.

“Few months ago, there was issue of fraud in the Makurdi office. Auditors were sent from Abuja to carefully flip the record books of the office, to perhaps, ascertain the current state of affairs.

“The state Coordinator, Obilo, was not around when the audit team came. But in the course of the audit, N36 million was discovered to have been missing from the account. An investigation was launched. In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Joan Asen, who is account staff and a lady outside JAMB have connived to steal the money.”

Philomina in her confessional statement said that Joan Asen and her accomplices confessed that they have been stealing the money “spiritually” through a mysterious snake that always sneak into the office to swallow the money from the vault.

According to her “It was a mystery to me too. I have been saving the money in the bank, but I found it difficult to account for it. So I started saving it in a vault in the office. But each time I open the vault, I will find nothing. I became worried and surprised how the millions of Naira could be disappearing from the vault. I began to interrogate everybody in the house and office, and no one could agree on what might have happened to the money. I continued to press until my housemaid confessed. She said that the money disappeared “spiritually”. She said that a “mysterious snake” sneaked into the house and swallowed the money in the vault.”

He told Sun, “I grew up in an environment where people drink politics everyday, but I saw beyond politics and that is why I chose to be a scientist because it is the most lucrative and reliable aspect in life, it will not give you too much problem.

“With science, you are ready to sacrifice yourself on issue of development unlike in politics where you deceive human beings. A scientist should stay in the lab, bring up something creative to help in development and not to be poke-nosing into the affairs of politicians.

“Some scientists do go into politics, but they end up being like them, that is why I shun politics. Worst are Nigerian politicians, who are liars, including my late father, they are dishonest.

“I watched them when they played their game and I can say without any fear that there is no politician in Nigeria that is honest. Nigerian politicians are liars, they don’t fulfill promises.

“Most of Nigerian politicians are completely dishonest, they have deceived Nigerians and it is time for Nigerians to sit up.

“Most of them are greedy, selfish, self-centered and dishonest. 2019 is fast approaching, people should ask questions, ask what they have done for their community.

“In regard to my late father, when he was alive he used some of his own money to feed people. People would bring money to him, he didn’t keep the money, he shared the money.”
